High School: Edmonds Woodway High School
College: University of Pacific
Alyssa grew up in Edmonds, Washington and attended Edmonds-Woodway High School. Inspired by her parents, both NAIA national champions at PLU, she played a multitude of sports growing up: running, soccer, basketball, softball, and more. She played competitive soccer in the beginning of high school but eventually transitioned into distance running, where she was part of a state-runner up team in 2017. She continued to run at the University of the Pacific in the West Coast Conference, setting multiple school records and recording many top-10 finishes there. She graduated from UOP in 2023 with a degree in Health, Exercise, and Sports Science as well as minors in Biology and Psychology. She plans on continuing her education, and is applying to DPT programs to start in fall 2024.
Her admiration for physical therapy started at a young age: a lifelong connection to musclo-skeletal disabilities, sports injuries, exercise, and community service drew her to the field. Her favorite aspect of physical therapy is watching how relationships and movement can inspire lifelong change and create community.
While she is home for the year, she is planning on enjoying all the PNW has to offer and to give back to the town that raised her. She is volunteer coaching at Edmonds-Woodway’s cross-country and track program this year. When not doing that, you can find her hiking, playing ultimate frisbee or pick-up soccer, walking her dog, or watching live streams of Taylor Swift concerts.
